About The Position

An employee in this classification works on a part-time basis, providing technical support for the successful operation of events and activities at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center and other locations throughout the City of Dearborn. Duties include but are not limited to: Loading and unloading of stage, audio visual, lighting and event equipment from city vehicles; client and vendor vehicles. Assist in the set up, operation and strike of staging, audio, video, lighting, rigging, and event equipment. Part of a team that provides, behind the scenes, support to internal and external clients, in the successful operation of their event. Assist in maintenance of stage, scene shop and storage areas. Assist in inventory and repair of audio, video and lighting equipment. Provide day of event technical support and operation of one of the following disciplines; Live Audio mixing duties, theatrical lighting control, live video system control and/or theatrical fly system and rigging operation. May be required to drive city vehicles to deliver supplies and equipment to various locations. Construction, paint, and finishing of sets and scenery.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of technical theatre and live event operations.
  • Advance knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in at least 2 technical disciplines: Live Audio: Experience in operation of large format digital and analog consoles, in live concert settings Installation and operation of a variety of speaker systems. Line Array & Point Source Experience in mixing large scale live events FOH & monitors Experience working with a variety of acts; Touring bands, orchestra, choir, corporate, musical theatre, etc. Ability to troubleshoot and repair audio equipment as needed Theatrical Lighting Experience and knowledge of a variety conventional and intelligent lighting fixtures. Experience in programming and control of intelligent lighting systems. Experience in live operation of lighting consoles for a variety of acts; Touring bands, orchestra, choir, corporate, musical theatre, etc. Ability to troubleshoot and repair lighting equipment as needed Video / Projection Knowledge of large venue projector systems Knowledge of video formats and resolutions Ability to control a variety of video content; Qlab, Powerpoint, Pro Presenter, etc. Knowledge of PTZ cameras, video switchers and streaming gear. Fly / Rigging Advance knowledge and experience with a single purchase fly system. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the safe operation and practices of stage rigging. Experience with electric chain hoists, and orchestra shell systems.
  • Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
  • Self-motivated; ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Ability to move and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and be physically active for long periods of time.
  • Provide supervision to other employees
  • Must have 2-3 years previous experience in live events or technical theatre.
  • Interest in live event and technical theatre operations.
  • Knowledge of signal flow, electrical current load, AV equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to work on ladders, cat-walks, man lifts, and scissor lifts.
  • Knowledge and ability to use basic manual and power shop tools.
  • Criminal history check, drug screen and physical
  • Valid State of Michigan driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in audio, lighting, video or rigging systems; preferred but not required
