Responsibilities

  • Assist Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants with patient care planning and implementation.
  • Assist Physical Therapists with clinical tasks and attend to patients.
  • Prepare, organize, and clean treatment areas.
  • Assist patients with movement between exercises.
  • Provide administrative support, including clerical duties and paperwork.
  • Record prescribed exercises, patient assessments, and assist in establishing treatment plans and goals.
  • Order and arrange supplies.
  • Change patient linens and pillows.
  • Build rapport with patients to alleviate fears and support treatment plans and goals.
  • Help with patient scheduling.
  • Greet patients and escort them to the treatment area.
  • Assist with patient preparation, transferring, transporting, and positioning during and after treatment.
  • Prepare treatment rooms according to protocols.
  • Apply heat packs, paraffin dips, and assist patients into whirlpools.
  • Help patients onto exercise equipment, monitor motion, and track walking time and distance.
  • Measure mobility and perform prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques.
  • Answer patient questions, address requests, and discuss suitable retail items for rehabilitation.
  • Educate patients on the proper use of equipment and exercise routines.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Set up and take down physical therapy equipment during treatment sessions.
  • Perform prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques as requested by Physical Therapists.
  • Ensure the operation of physical therapy equipment by completing preventive maintenance, following manufacturer instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and communicating for repairs.
  • Maintain clinical supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, and placing/expediting orders.
  • Manage multiple priorities efficiently.
