About The Position

The Technician supports laboratory and testing operations under close supervision. This entry-level position focuses on learning laboratory procedures, assisting with testing activities, and developing foundational technical skills within the Advanced Structures and Composites Center (ASCC). This position is based in Brunswick, Maine, with occasional in-state travel primarily to Orono and Portland. Typical hiring salary for this soft-money funded position is commensurate with Career Level: Technician I – up to $55,000 Technician II – up to $70,000 This position requires access to information regulated under U.S. Export Control regulations and therefore individuals must qualify as a U.S. Person under U.S. Export Control Regulations. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude or prior experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or technical environment (academic or professional)
  • Ability to follow written procedures and safety instructions
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation
  • Trained in safe work practices around power tools and large equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or coursework in engineering technology, materials science, manufacturing, or a related field for Technician II level
  • Prior experience working in a laboratory or shop environment
