About The Position

The Mitigation Technician plays a critical role in assessing, managing, and resolving environmental and property damage issues caused by water, fire, mold, and other hazardous conditions. This position involves responding promptly to emergency situations to minimize damage and restore affected areas to safe and habitable conditions. The technician will conduct thorough inspections, implement mitigation strategies, and operate specialized equipment to remove contaminants and prevent further deterioration. Collaboration with clients, insurance adjusters, and other professionals is essential to ensure effective communication and successful project completion. Ultimately, the Mitigation Technician ensures that properties are restored efficiently while adhering to safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Basic knowledge of water, fire, and mold damage mitigation techniques.
• Ability to operate mitigation equipment safely and effectively.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces.
• Technical skills daily to operate specialized drying and remediation equipment, ensuring efficient removal of water and contaminants.
• Strong observational skills are essential for accurately assessing damage and determining the best mitigation approach.
• Communication skills are used to interact professionally with clients and insurance personnel, providing clear updates and documentation.
• Physical stamina and manual dexterity enable the technician to perform demanding tasks safely and effectively.
• Knowledge of safety regulations ensures that all mitigation activities comply with legal and environmental standards, protecting both the technician and the property.

Nice To Haves

• Certification in water damage restoration (e.g., IICRC WRT).
• Experience working in environmental remediation or property restoration.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls for water, fire, and mold damage mitigation services across residential and commercial properties.
• Perform detailed inspections to assess the extent of damage and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
• Operate and maintain specialized equipment such as dehumidifiers, air movers, and moisture meters to facilitate drying and remediation processes.
• Remove damaged materials and contaminants safely while following industry best practices and safety protocols.
• Document all work performed, including photographs and detailed reports, to support insurance claims and project tracking.
• Communicate effectively with clients, insurance representatives, and team members to coordinate mitigation efforts and provide status updates.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the mitigation process.
