About The Position

This part-time night position combines direct patient care with unit clerical duties in the Adult Critical Care Unit. Under the direction of a Clinical Nurse, the Technician-Unit Support provides care to designated patients and supports the patient care team. The role helps maintain a clean and orderly patient environment and provides information, directions, and assistance to physicians, patients, families, customers, and vendors.

The position may involve scheduling patient tests and procedures, maintaining patient records, and signing patients in and out of the unit. It may also include ordering, receiving, and delivering equipment and supplies for the patient care team. Continuous observation, including suicide prevention, may be required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous comparable acute patient care experience or successful completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA, or attainment of certification upon completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Knowledge of infection control principles.
• Basic computer skills.
