About The Position

This is a part-time evening position working between 1000 and 2230. The role combines direct patient care and unit clerical duties. The Technician-Unit Support administers care to designated patients under the direction of a Clinical Nurse and supports the patient care team while maintaining a clean and orderly patient environment. The position also provides information, directions, and assistance to physicians, patients, families, customers, and vendors.

Duties may include scheduling patient tests and procedures, maintaining patient records, signing patients in and out of the unit, and ordering, receiving, and delivering equipment and supplies for the patient care team. The role may also require continuous observation, including suicide prevention.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous comparable acute patient care experience or successful completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA, or attainment of certification upon completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Knowledge of infection-control principles.
• Basic computer skills.
