Technician-Unit Support Adult Med-Surg Step-down Unit PT Day - Arnett
About The Position
This part-time day position provides a combination of direct patient care and unit clerical duties in the Adult Med-Surg Step-down Unit. The technician administers care to designated patients under the direction of a Clinical Nurse and supports the patient care team while helping maintain a clean and orderly patient environment. The role also provides information, directions, and other assistance to physicians, patients, families, customers, and vendors. Duties may include scheduling tests and procedures, maintaining patient records, signing patients in and out of the unit, and ordering, receiving, and delivering equipment and supplies. Continuous observation, including suicide prevention, may be required. The schedule requires availability on Monday and Tuesday day shifts, 5:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous comparable acute patient care experience or successful completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
- Current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA, or attainment of certification upon completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
- Knowledge of principles of infection control.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work Monday and Tuesday day shifts from 5:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
