About The Position

Start your career in clean-energy inspection. We’ll get you certified. If you know your way around trucks, trailers, or mechanical systems, this is how you break into a specialized field that most technicians never get access to. As a Technician Trainee – Fuel Systems (Level 1), you’ll work alongside certified inspectors learning Modal Acoustic Emission (MAE) testing, an advanced, in-demand method for evaluating compressed natural gas and hydrogen storage systems. The Level 1 designation is the defined entry point into a structured certification pathway. This role is built for someone who wants to grow.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; ASE certification or technical school preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort following technical procedures and documentation
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record; Class A CDL with air brake endorsement (or ability to obtain one)
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office basics: Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal
  • Able to travel and work in varying field conditions
  • Able to pass the Texas RRC CNG Service Installation exam (we’ll support your prep)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with high-pressure gas systems or an existing TRRC CNG certification will set you apart.
  • Associates degree in an engineering field, or equivalent industry.
  • NDT (Non Destructive Testing) experience accepted.
  • Basic understanding of nondestructive testing principles and acoustic emission.
  • MAE Level 1 (per ASNT, ISO 9712, or equivalent) preferred but not required, training will be provided.
  • Candidate lives close to the worksite (Midland / Odessa, Texas area).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with visual inspections and setup of MAE test equipment under a certified Level 2 or Level 3 technician
  • Collect and record test data, ensuring compliance with established inspection procedures
  • Troubleshoot and repair Quantum fuel systems at our Midland, Texas facility.
  • Conduct maintenance on customer vehicles, trailers, and alternative-fuel systems
  • Write service reports and contribute to technical documentation
  • Travel domestically for inspections and field service
