About The Position
This Technician position is within the Department’s Materials Testing & Exploration section of the Bureau of Project Development. The selected candidate will be primarily working with a small team of testing technicians who perform laboratory tests on construction materials in Bangor Maine.
Requirements
- Five (5) years of experience in engineering –OR- an Associate Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and three (3) years of experience in engineering -OR- a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and one (1) year of experience in engineering.
Nice To Haves
- Certified by NETTCP as a Soils & Aggregate Laboratory Technician
- Working knowledge of MaineDOT quality assurance testing
Responsibilities
- Performing high quality testing of soils and aggregate in precise accordance with AASHTO, ASTM, and MaineDOT procedures as trained and directed.
- Performing routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory testing equipment.
- Standing for long hours, regularly handling and manipulating heavy material samples without assistance.
- Working safely with power tools, testing equipment, and when handling samples, being sure to follow all safety requirements.
