About The Position

Under general supervision, provides high-quality radiographs for diagnosis of patients referred to the X-ray Department. This role involves rotation on stand-by and weekend schedules as required for radiology coverage. Technologists will be efficient in performing radiology procedures and perform other related duties as assigned. Key responsibilities include explaining procedures to patients, comforting and positioning patients on the exam table, selecting appropriate technique parameters in keeping with ALARA, and utilizing radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with regulations and ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and staff. Technologists will also review and evaluate digital images for quality to ensure they are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. The job requires excellent written and verbal communication, sensitivity to the physical and psychological needs of patients, attention to detail, and the ability to follow physician instructions within a team concept. The position also requires stamina for transporting patients to and from hospital beds to the Radiology Department.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology.
  • Current certificate of the CRT and ARRT.
  • Current Fluoro certification (new grads have 6 months to obtain).
  • Current BCLS required (AHA).
  • At least one year of experience as a Radiology Technologist (for new grads, must have been assigned with Garfield Medical Center during student rotation from Radiology Program).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sensitivity to the physical and psychological needs of patients.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow a physician's instructions.
  • Stamina for transporting patients.
