About The Position

This role involves conducting routine Quality Inspections and Audits throughout production to assess and report on product and process adherence to First Solar specifications and standards. The technician will also provide guidance and training on these specifications and standards as the Quality Representative to Production and Engineering, and participate in multi-functional teams to define and implement corrective/preventive actions and continuous improvement activities.

Requirements

  • High School or GED required.
  • 2 years Postsecondary studies, associate degree, or Professional Certification required (Technical Field preferred) or 7yrs related Quality Experience.
  • 5 years’ experience in Manufacturing Environment required.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Mechanical Aptitude to understand, measure, and monitor various process and product variables.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and report data from varied sources.
  • Ability to define and effectively communicate observations and problems (verbally and in writing).
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, yet able to actively participate in and support multi-functional teams.
  • Experience using various precision tools (micrometers, gage blocks, calipers, microscopes).
  • Proven computer skills (Word and Excel required; JMP a plus).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred.
  • ASQ Certification (CMI, CPT, CQA) desired.
  • 5 years’ experience within ISO 9001 (or equivalent) Quality System desired.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine Quality Inspections and Audits throughout production to assess and report on both product and process adherence to First Solar specifications and standards (incoming, in-process, and finished goods).
  • Provide guidance and training on those specifications and standards as the Quality Representative to Production and Engineering.
  • Participate in multi-functional teams to define and implement corrective/preventive actions and continuous improvement activities.
  • Complete day-to-day duties and responsibilities under minimal supervision.
  • Inspect incoming, in-process, and finished material; analyze data for trends and discrepancies; and disseminate reports efficiently and effectively to facilitate timely decisions by Engineering, Production, and Quality.
  • Monitor and audit Manufacturing Processes and Equipment against Core Documentation (PFD, PFMEA, CP, WI) and report discrepancies.
  • Handle multiple tasks and employ appropriate prioritization to complete all requirements in a timely and professional manner.
  • Execute Quality Management Systems and Record Keeping per First Solar Policy and ISO Standards.
  • Interface with other departments, suppliers, customers, and third-party representatives as required.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and good housekeeping standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
