About The Position

This position performs basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision. The role involves assisting patients with ambulation, personal care, and daily living activities. The technician will report findings or changes in patient condition to nursing staff, document necessary records, and maintain a clean and orderly patient environment. Specific technical duties include oxygen setup, Foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection, and EKGs. The role also includes obtaining and recording vital signs, weight, and input/output measurements. The position is part of the MedSurg, 3 South Medical department and requires one weekend shift per month.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsibilities

Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.
Assist patients with ambulation, including helping them to a recliner, to the bathroom, or down the hall.
Assist dismissed patients in getting safely to their vehicles.
Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
Report findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
Document necessary records.
Keep patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintain medical equipment.
Perform certain technical patient care duties such as oxygen setup, Foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection and EKGs.
Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
