About The Position

RSIA is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Paint Prep Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for preparing surfaces and materials for painting and finishing. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality work, follows safety procedures, and works effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience with paint preparation, painting, construction, manufacturing, automotive, industrial, or similar hands-on work is preferred.
Experience using sanders, grinders, scrapers, masking materials, and basic hand and power tools preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, grinding, masking, and performing other required preparation.
Remove dirt, grease, rust, old paint, and other materials that may affect the finished product.
Mask and protect areas that should not be painted.
Prepare work areas, materials, equipment, and tools for painters.
Assist with mixing, handling, and staging paint and coating materials as directed.
Inspect prepared surfaces to ensure they meet quality standards before painting.
Perform minor surface repairs and touch-up preparation as needed.
Maintain painting and preparation tools and equipment in clean and safe working condition.
Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of unnecessary hazards.
Properly handle and dispose of paint-related materials and waste.
Follow all RSIA safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
Communicate with supervisors and team members regarding work progress, quality concerns, or material needs.
Assist painters and other team members as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
