About The Position

The Measurement Technician is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of custody transfer metering systems across the site. This includes verifying both company-owned and third-party meters, maintaining required documentation, and supporting compliance with the Global Volumetric Control Standard and site procedures. The role also contributes to broader instrumentation and condition monitoring efforts.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the operation and calibration of flow measurement equipment and instrumentation
  • Technical knowledge and experience with meter proving/calibration, equipment maintenance, flow computers, meter programming and density determinations
  • Proficient in Emerson AMS Device Manager for instrument commissioning, alert monitoring, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of smart instrumentation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform / Witness custody transfer metering tasks
  • Update monthly Variance Report and annual Volumetric Control Report per site procedure
  • Update and archive documentation electronically in D2, which includes meter calibrations, metering correction factors, test equipment certifications, and required reports
  • Ensure PM compliance / scheduling deferrals, discrepancies, and deviations are reported in a timely manner per site procedure
  • Track and trend the custody meter correction factors to verify compliance with tolerable variations per contracts
  • Serves as the primary support representative for custody transfer meter PM/witnessing activities per contractual requirements
  • Maintains custody metering program and documentation in D2
  • Ensures third party maintenance protocols are available and followed during calibration / verification activities
  • Participates in company and regulatory audits and other requests
  • Participates in the development/update of measurement procedures and compliance requirements for custody transfer meters in the program as required
  • Provides support to personnel on the safe usage of measurement equipment and compliance with procedures
  • Maintains and updates pipeline and meter location schematic and assists with updates to the metering exposure analysis as part of the site Volumetric Control Plan in compliance with corporate standard and site procedure
  • Reports deviations and tracks resolution efforts for custody transfer meter compliance issues per site procedure
  • Monitor AMS Device Manager systems for instrument and valve diagnostic alerts, identify potential reliability risks, and initiate corrective actions to prevent equipment failures.
  • Create, prioritize, and track AMS-generated SAP notifications, ensuring issues are properly documented, communicated, and resolved in accordance with site reliability and maintenance processes.
  • Maintain and optimize AMS alert configurations, analyze device health trends, and provide technical support and troubleshooting guidance to improve instrument reliability and operational performance.
