Position: Maintenance Mechanic/Building Maintenance Technician Department: Building Maintenance Reporting Structure: Reports to Building Maintenance Manager/ Supervisor Reporting to this position:No direct reports BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on processing equipment, production equipment, and all aspects of building maintenance.

Requirements

  • Must have basic English oral, written and communication skills.
  • Electrical, mechanical and plumbing installation and repair skills.
  • Working knowledge of power tools and machine shop equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to make required repairs.
  • Basic Math skills required.
  • Boiler and chiller repair skills and prior experience in preventive maintenance systems.
  • Organized and efficient in time management skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently on assigned projects.
  • Ability to professionally interact with outside maintenance contractors when required.
  • Capable of following all required SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) and safety programs.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Relevant experience in general machine and building maintenance.
  • A combination of vocational training, education and experience that is equivalent to the employment standards listed above and provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of mixers, pumps, tanks, piping and Manufacturing /Production support systems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, or replace gearboxes, drive motors, VFD’s, and PLC’s.
  • Daily checks of ph meters, stability chambers, ovens, water treatment equipment, exit signs and emergency lighting.
  • Maintain all aspects of building maintenance such as lighting, HVAC, air compressors, chillers, boilers, plumbing, cleaning, painting, light carpentry and snow removal.
  • Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, machinery, production lines and industrial equipment, including (forklifts, power jacks etc.)
  • Maintain log books and maintenance checklists for all equipment and fire safety apparatus.
  • Maintain and monitor inventory of maintenance supplies, replacement parts, cleaning supplies, and office supplies.
  • Identify and resolve building maintenance, equipment repairs and safety issues and follow through to completion.
  • Complete tasks requested by work orders and individual requests.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
