About The Position

The Industrial Millwright, internally referred to as Technician, Maintenance – Mechanical, is accountable for supporting Production by installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment, including automation and robotics. They are responsible for maintaining all machinery and providing mechanical and electrical support to the Production group. Additionally, they perform preventative and corrective maintenance, leading to increased up-time and reliability.

Requirements

  • College Certificate or Diploma Certifications
  • 443A – Certificate of Industrial Mechanic (Millwright)
  • Forklift Operator Training Certificate
  • Aerial Lifts Training Certificate
  • 4– 8 years as an Industrial Millwright
  • High-volume manufacturing
  • Setup and repair of automation and robotics
  • Some Computer proficiency
  • Hands-on technical skills, including; mechanical repair, electrical systems, pneumatic systems and PLCs
  • Manual metal arc welding
  • Ability to maintain production equipment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to learn
  • Ability to follow direction, including health and safety protocols
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements, including repetitive lifting
  • Accuracy – ability to perform movements and skills with precision
  • Efficiency – ability to multitask and work without wasting resources

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with trouble shooting robotics preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare reports on repairs, potential equipment failure or unsafe conditions
  • Complete work orders and record material utilized on jobs
  • Maintain and service machines and equipment used in the manufacturing facility
  • Inspect and assess machinery to detect irregularities and malfunctions
  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts
  • Operate machine tools to fabricate parts required for overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery
  • Interpret mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic blueprints or schematics and translate ideas accurately
  • Collaborate with maintenance team to relocate or install stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in the plant
  • Collaborate with maintenance team to exchange technical information to facilitate teamwork in troubleshooting and repair process
  • Participate in the Preventative Maintenance program on all equipment for continuous improvement of all machines
  • Problem solve line issues i.e., provide suggestions and recommendations to increase accuracy
  • Determine inefficiencies and implement effective processes to increase overall line efficiency
  • Investigate, experiment and implement controls and programming changes to improve productivity and quality on an ongoing basis
  • Assess operating safety devices upon completion of repairs, modifications and installations to ensure proper functioning
  • Oversee required inspections of electrical systems to ensure compliance with Ontario Electrical Standards Act and identify any hazards or issues
  • Follow health and safety regulations, policies and procedures
