About The Position

Performs, as directed, all necessary maintenance of the facility, equipment, and grounds, in a timely and cost-efficient manner. This role requires the ability to work with little supervision and demonstrated troubleshooting skills. The technician will be responsible for performing on-site service and repair of equipment, collaborating with other departments, and following standard OSHA, EPA, and company safe practices. The position also involves managing waste generated from work performed and completing the First Solar Maintenance Technician 1 training program. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 6 months First Solar manufacturing experience, or 6 months of outside manufacturing, mechanical, or agricultural experience, or Military experience, or Graduate from vocational High School with no experience required.
  • Verifiable technical skills and/or background.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skill.
  • Knowledge of computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Proven communications skills.
  • Ability to follow safe work practices.
  • Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Will climb stairs or steps on a frequent basis.
  • Will lift up to 58 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction.
  • Will lift up to 37 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 50 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 37 pounds of force on a frequent basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye separately and both eyes (with or without correction), the ability to distinguish between red, yellow, and green and peripheral vision >70 degrees is required.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including, but not limited to: steel-toed shoes, cut-resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection & respirators) as a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Proven Electro/Mechanical skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, vacuum systems and robotics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs, as directed, all necessary maintenance of the facility, equipment, and grounds, in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
  • Accomplishes daily assignments as scheduled and as directed.
  • Performs the on-site service and repair of equipment.
  • Must meet at least 70% of Estimated Repair Times.
  • Collaborates with other departments.
  • Follows standard OSHA, EPA, and company safe practices on all work assignments.
  • Ability to read electrical & mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
  • Performs other assignments as required.
  • Is responsible to manage waste generated from any work that is performed as instructed.
  • Will complete First Solar Maintenance Technician 1 training program.
