About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of multiple departments and performing additional job-related responsibilities and duties throughout the facility as assigned and/or as necessary. An individual in this position will be expected to successfully perform essential functions such as setting up and configuring various low voltage systems (e.g., security systems, fire alarms, CCTV, audio/video systems, network cabling), running, terminating, and labeling cables according to project requirements and industry standards. The role involves performing regular maintenance checks, identifying and resolving issues in low voltage systems to minimize downtimes, and fixing faults or damages to restore systems to optimal working condition. The technician provides technical support, training, and support to end users, and addresses customer inquiries professionally. They ensure all installations and repairs adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, follow safety guidelines, and maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance, and repairs. The position also includes generating reports on system performance, evaluating existing systems for upgrades, performing system upgrades, and collaborating with other technicians, engineers, and project managers. Effective communication with clients to understand their needs and provide solutions is crucial. The technician is expected to stay abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices, applying this expertise to action plans, supporting business needs, and building commitment. They will also provide and support the implementation of business solutions by building relationships with stakeholders, identifying business needs, monitoring progress, and adapting to changes. Finally, the role models compliance with company policies and procedures, supporting the company's mission, values, and ethics.

Requirements

  • Must hold state and jurisdiction required certification and license for the state/jurisdiction of work.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Prior work experience in role requiring knowledge of local electrical codes and standards.

Nice To Haves

  • CompTIA certifications for networking (for example, Network+).
  • Experience using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Manufacturer-specific certifications (for example, Honeywell, Axis, or Bosch systems).
  • NICET Level 1 or 2 Fire Alarm Certification.
  • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour safety certification.
  • Technical training or certification in low voltage systems.

  • Sets up and configures various low voltage systems (for example, security systems, fire alarms, CCTV, audio/video systems, network cabling).
  • Runs, terminates, and labels cables according to project requirements and industry standards.
  • Performs regular maintenance checks to ensure system functionality and reliability.
  • Identifies and resolves issues in low voltage systems promptly to minimize downtimes.
  • Fixes any faults or damages in systems, ensuring they are restored to optimal working condition.
  • Provides technical support.
  • Provides training and support to end users on how to operate and maintain low voltage systems.
  • Addresses customer inquiries and concerns professionally and efficiently.
  • Ensure all installations and repairs adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Follows all safety guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed records of installations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Generates reports on system performance, issues resolved, and maintenance activities.
  • Evaluates existing systems to determine if upgrades or enhancements are needed.
  • Performs system upgrades to improve performance or comply with new standards.
  • Works closely with other technicians, engineers, and project managers to ensure successful project completion.
  • Communicates effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Stays abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.
