About The Position

This position requires a basic understanding of internal combustion engines, electrical circuits, and mechanical mechanisms as they apply to the repair of power generation equipment. The technician will learn to diagnose component malfunctions, perform service and repair actions under guidance, and assist other technicians. Responsibilities include cleaning equipment, learning to use technical manuals and schematics, completing repair orders, maintaining a clean shop, and adhering to safety policies. Basic knowledge of hand and power tools is also required. Additional duties include performing tasks as requested by the manager, providing quality customer service, operating an overhead crane and forklift, working with minimal supervision, handling wire, washing equipment, assisting with loading/unloading trucks, being on call (potentially offshore), and assisting with shop maintenance. Basic computer skills are needed for troubleshooting programs, and good communication skills are essential for customer service and operational updates. Reliable transportation is necessary for on-call duties, with mileage reimbursement provided. Training will be provided during and after the probationary period, including basic safety, technician level 1 training, and forklift/overhead crane operation.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills - This is needed for mechanical troubleshooting programs.
  • Good communication skills – In order to provide good customer service and meet customer deadlines as well as keep operations informed of all equipment status.
  • Operate Forklift & Overhead Crane – This is required to be able to move equipment to service equipment.
  • Ability to Work with Minimal Supervision – After hour call requires technicians to perform service work and meet customer needs with minimal supervision.
  • Need reliable Transportation – On call requires technician to go on road jobs to customer site. This requires the use of personal vehicle and technician will be reimbursed mileage.
  • Minimum of 0-1 Years Mechanical Experience – Required to know the basic functionality of an engine and how to service to manufacturer specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Must have the basic understanding of: The theory, principles and repairs relating to internal combustion engines, electrical circuits, and mechanical mechanisms applying to the repair of power generation equipment.
  • Ability to learn the mechanical condition of generators, equipment and diagnose component malfunctions. Perform service and repair actions based on trainer and supervisor guidance.
  • Assists other technicians in performing inspections and servicing of equipment.
  • Responsible for cleaning equipment after completion of service or repairs.
  • Ability to learn the use of technical manuals, wiring schematics, test equipment.
  • Complete Repair Orders, shop time tickets, swap out reports and all other paperwork as necessary.
  • Responsible for ensuring the mechanics shop is kept in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Responsible for attending all safety meetings and following all safety policies and procedures.
  • Basic Knowledgeable in the use of hand and power tools and shop equipment.
  • Perform all duties requested by the manager.
  • Provide quality and timely customer service.
  • Operate overhead crane & forklift.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Roll wire and pick wire for jobs.
  • Wash and clean equipment before and after servicing.
  • Help load and unload trucks.
  • Rotational on call which may require overnight offshore stays.
  • Assist with shop maintenance and clean up.
