About The Position

A+ Communications, Security & Home Solutions is a trusted leader in communications, security, audio/video, and automation control. Our experienced team specializes in customizing services to fit customers' specific needs, whether it be for home entertainment and safety or workplace productivity and security. The Technician, Security/Fire works with the Manager, Security/Fire to coordinate installation of security and fire alarm systems.

Requirements

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read installation and system manuals.
• Ability to read blueprints and building plans.
• Ability to use hand and power tools to install hardware.
• Ability to work at varying heights using ladders and man-lifts.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license.
• Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders.
• Physically able to install system hardware and wiring.
• Must be able to lift and/or move 75 pounds at a time.
• Must be available for rotating weekend on-call service with other technicians.
• Travel within Hy-Vee trade area.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Successful completion of a pre employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

• Vocational/technical school training preferred
• On-the-job training may be provided
• The ideal candidate will hold the credential of NICET I.
• Otherwise, experience requires the ability to pass NICET I and II license in first year.

Responsibilities

• Installs, tests, inspects and repairs security and fire alarm systems.
• Uses blueprints or building plans to determine proper systems to install based on building layout and setting.
• Runs wiring and circuits, installs hardware, and attaches electrical wires.
• Inspects and tests systems, batteries, and electrical wiring; makes adjustments and repairs as required.
• Replaces malfunctioning hardware when necessary.
• Ensures systems comply with electrical and fire codes.
• Explains and demonstrates system function and operation to end users.
• Performs other related duties as required.
