About The Position

This position is responsible for leading and coordinating the district’s HVAC filter maintenance program to support safe, efficient and healthy learning environment across all district facilities. This position performs HVAC preventative maintenance duties, oversees filter replacement schedules, oversees and assists with duct cleaning operations and provides leadership and guidance to filter crew personnel.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • HVAC trade school or technical training (preferred)
  • Valid Texas Operator’s License
  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience and qualifications that the administration determines to be appropriate and acceptable may be considered
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, air filtration systems and preventative maintenance practices
  • Knowledge of indoor air quality standards and duct cleaning procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical drawings and work orders
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate work activities of assigned personnel
  • Knowledge of safety procedures related to HVAC maintenance and hazardous materials handling
  • Must possess minimum EPA certification I and II (Universal certification preferred)
  • Texas State Contractors License Type B (Preferred) or ability to obtain
  • Physically able to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to comprehend verbal and written English
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily activities of the HVAC filter crew and duct cleaning operations.
  • Coordinate the purchasing, delivery, distribution and installation of filters for all HVAC AHUs, OAHUs and split systems district wide.
  • Coordinate and perform duct cleaning activities using negative air machines, HEPA vacuums, rotary brushes, air whips and compressed air tools.
  • Operate and maintain tools, lifts, vacuums and specialized HVAC cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Identify damaged ductwork, airflow restrictions and indoor air quality concerns.
  • Complete service reports, inspection documentation, preventative maintenance records and related work activities within the district work order system.
  • Train and mentor crew personnel on proper procedures, safety practices and equipment operation.
  • Assist HVAC technicians and other maintenance trades as needed on repairs or special projects.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance situations and assist during after-hours calls as required.
  • Maintain as safe and clean working environment in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work a designated mid-day shift schedule of 11:30am-7:30pm to support district operational and facility needs.
