About The Position

This position is at our Recycle Facility and is for D Crew (nights). The schedule is 6:45pm to 7:00am on a rotating 2/2/3 schedule, which includes working every other weekend. This role contributes to accident-free operations and compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements. The Technician Lead ensures operational goals are met each shift, operates and maintains equipment, monitors performance, and performs preventive maintenance. They diagnose and repair equipment defects, document work orders, and assist Maintenance personnel. The role requires maintaining knowledge of Bills of Process (BOP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Critical to Quality (CTQ) standards, completing daily quality checks, and accurately filling out reports. The Technician Lead operates in a manner that provides value to the team, completes daily duties using workplace organization and efficiency methodologies like TPM and 6S, and acts as a primary contact for technicians, the Quality team, and Maintenance. They also fill in for the supervisor when they are not present on shift and guide and mentor other technicians.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Demonstrated ability to work within company values
  • 1-3 years of experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment
  • Forklift Certification – either current or in prior work experience
  • Strong decision making, analytical skills and proven ability to work cross-functionally
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong reading, mathematical and comprehension skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Must be self-directed and motivated and able to multi-task in fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment
  • Ability to share responsibility and accountability
  • Work schedule flexibility to accommodate needs of the business

  • Computer skills preferred, to include; basic input of information into ERP system on receiving and shipping process

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to accident-free operations and compliance to all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements and regulations.
  • Ensure operational goals are met each shift.
  • Start, operate, maintain and shut down equipment.
  • Monitor performance of equipment and ensure that equipment operates to specifications.
  • Perform lockout/tagout process prior to working on equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance such as changing filters, cleaning blades, checking gaps, changing belts, air emission testing and more.
  • Diagnose process and equipment defects, make minor repairs, document work orders for other repairs and assist Maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge and adherence to the Bills of Process (BOP), Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and Critical to Quality (CTQ) standards.
  • Complete daily Quality Check paperwork as scheduled.
  • Responsible for detailed and accurate completion of Line Status Report, Scorecards, and Downtown Escalation Reports.
  • Operate in a manner that provides value to the team.
  • Complete daily duties in accordance with workplace organization and efficiency methodologies, such as TPM and 6S.
  • Acts as primary contact with Technician for issues/projects.
  • Acts as primary contact with Quality team for product quality issues.
  • Acts as primary contact with Maintenance Technician for improvements and work order completion.
  • Executes minor maintenance and assists Maintenance Technician if necessary.
  • Key contributor to line commissioning after maintenance/process events.
  • Fills in when supervisor is not present on shift. Performs job and duties of supervisor, when needed.
  • Guides and mentors other techs on shift to perform job successfully.

Benefits

  • Night shift has a 10% shift differential.
  • Pay Rate: $24 an hour, plus an additional 10% night shift premium.
