About The Position

The Lab Technician independently performs complex laboratory tests, prepares samples and formulations, operates and maintains analytical and processing equipment, and accurately documents and interprets experimental results. The role supports application testing, product development, and technical service for IPA Applied Technology, working with minimal supervision. It also involves maintaining laboratory instrumentation and records, managing chemical inventory, and promoting compliance with site safety requirements.

Requirements

• A BS or higher degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Plastics Engineering, or Chemical Engineering, or at least 1 year of technical experience in the chemical industry is preferred.
• Self-starter and proactive, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with and advise customers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong team player able to work within multifunctional, multiregional teams.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience formulating and introducing Polyurethane and/or Plastic Compounds to the market is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct experimental tests to support application testing, product development, and technical service for IPA Applied Technology, with minimal supervision.
• Routinely operate instruments and equipment used in the laboratory.
• Interpret data, identify trends or anomalies, prepare accurate and timely technical summaries, and recommend potential solutions.
• Assist in establishing new test methods and optimizing existing methods.
• Manage calibration, maintenance, and repair tasks for laboratory instrumentation.
• Maintain documentation and records in the Smart Lab Notebook system.
• Manage chemical inventory according to site policy.
• Ensure compliance with Evonik site safety procedures and guidelines.
• Enforce safety protocols, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment, safe handling of hazardous chemicals, and appropriate management and disposal of accumulated waste.
• Lead laboratory Design Hazard Review processes and conduct regular safety audits.
