About The Position

Performs pool repair and maintenance (e.g., maintain pool chemical balance) and monitors District swimming pools in accordance with established health codes and district policy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four to ten years journeyman experience and training
  • 2+year of relevant work experience required.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License.
  • Must meet District insurability standards.
  • Must have valid Certified Pool Operator Certification and four years of experience.
  • Open water scuba certification shall be obtained after employment provided Denver Public Schools.

Responsibilities

  • Receives work orders, reviews, prioritizes and develops plan for swimming pool and piping related issues and requests.
  • Determines and acquires supplies from warehouse and local vendors, researching for supplies and diagrams.
  • Prepares and cleans up job site, taking into consideration safety concerns of self and others, and disposes of waste and flammable materials.
  • Inspects and maintains district pools according to current codes and practices established by health codes and national Aquatic Certification Agencies.
  • Performs underwater maintenance and tile repair.
  • Manages and performs upgrades and renovations of District pools in compliance with new codes.
  • Daily tests and adjusts water chemistry to meet standards. Daily inspects and tests operational and recirculation efficiency of filters and filter media system, and safety equipment operational and available.
  • Checks and interprets pool gauges, flow meters, and monitoring equipment for operational efficiency. Inspects, installs and repairs pool related equipment and related plumbing systems.
  • Updates site pool daily logs. Orders all chemicals to maintain stock and supplies at each site that he or she manages. Performs and inspects pool chemical automation controllers.
  • Inspects work of independent contractors, identifies deficiencies, and communicates with Shop leadership about correcting deficiencies according to code and DPS specifications.
  • Performs work and cross trains in at least one other trade at an apprentice level.
  • Assists with snow removal efforts on a 24 hour on-call basis.
  • Responds to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
