About The Position

RWC Group is seeking a skilled and experienced Journeyman Diesel Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain medium- and heavy-duty commercial trucks and buses. The Journeyman Technician independently performs complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and diagnostic repairs while ensuring quality workmanship, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction. This position serves as a technical resource for less experienced technicians and plays a critical role in maintaining fleet uptime and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of diesel truck repair experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven ability to independently diagnose and repair medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required certifications and licensing.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a diesel technology or heavy equipment technician program.
  • ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications.
  • OEM certifications (Cummins, PACCAR, Detroit Diesel, Allison, Bendix, Meritor, Eaton, etc.).
  • CDL or ability to obtain CDL.
  • Experience with Kenworth, Peterbilt, International, Freightliner, Volvo, Mack, or commercial bus platforms.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair medium- and heavy-duty diesel trucks, buses, and related equipment.
  • Perform repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, clutches, drivetrains, steering, suspension, brake systems, HVAC, and electrical systems.
  • Utilize OEM diagnostic software, scan tools, and service information systems to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and services in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Complete warranty and customer-pay repairs according to OEM standards and company quality expectations.
  • Inspect vehicles and identify additional maintenance or repair needs.
  • Accurately document repairs, diagnostics, parts usage, and labor performed.
  • Maintain productivity and efficiency standards while delivering high-quality workmanship.
  • Mentor and assist apprentice and entry-level technicians with diagnostics, repair procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Participate in manufacturer and company-sponsored training programs to maintain technical proficiency.
