About The Position

The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management. This role involves conducting and supporting performance and functional tests on flight hardware, executing test procedures, supporting hardware configuration, and providing technical support for electrical, electro-mechanical, and electro-optical test set-ups. The technician will also perform various electrical and mechanical tasks, troubleshoot product issues, and document test configurations. A key aspect of this role is working effectively in a team environment, providing direction to less experienced employees, and serving as a resource for complex problem resolution. The position requires a regular on-site presence, with potential travel between company campuses.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent plus 3 years or more related experience.
Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
Electronic background or related degree to effectively support electronic test operations.
Ability to be versatile and contribute well to high-energy team environments.
Ability to independently operate O-scopes, Power supplies, Multi-Meters, and Data acquisition monitoring devices.
Ability to interpret electrical & mechanical drawings, specifications, notes, and wire lists.
Ability to be trained to obtain specialized certifications required, to perform the assembly and fabrication operations. (Clean room, ESD, FOD, Crane, Solder, Splicing, Crimping, J-STD, IPC-610/620)
Solid communication skills and the ability to exercise them in a technical environment.
A good mechanical aptitude, with solid dexterity and hand/eye coordination to work with hand tools.
Ability to apply basic computer skills to input and access data via computer interface.
Ability to self-start and be ambitious and conscientious with very high attention to detail.
Ability to list 50 pounds and work with heavy equipment, tooling and fixtures.
A DoW Interim Secret clearance will be required to start work and required to be maintained to continue work. Higher level clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
As this position requires operating a company vehicle, an offer and subsequent employment are contingent upon possessing and maintaining a valid US driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record review.

Nice To Haves

Aerospace, spacecraft, instrument, sub-assembly, experience preferred.
Experience working with optical systems and lasers.
Familiarity with eProcedures.
Script writing – Python, MatLab.
Active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

Conduct and support performance and functional tests on flight hardware including electronic boards, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and final assembly during all phases of the hardware evolution process ensuring compliance with engineering requirements and test procedures.
Execute specific step by step test procedures to record & verify test data results and report out of tolerance conditions. Support engineering staff with root cause determination and recovery for out of tolerance conditions.
Support hardware configuration, test readiness validation, and as monitor environmental testing parameters during Thermal Vacuum, Vibration, and EMI environmental testing.
Provide direct technical support to a team, as well as provide technical support during extended working hours, weekends, and holidays to meet critical schedules.
Provide technical support towards electrical, electro-mechanical, and electro-optical test set-ups.
Respond quickly to immediate tasks in their area of functional disciplines and develop cross functional skills.
Electrical and mechanical tasks include, but no limited to, the following: Parts cleaning/materials preparation, Mechanical /electrical assembly, Polymerics processing, Manual soldering, Adhesive/bonding, Masking, Paint operations.
While executing manufacturing operations, apply an advanced level of knowledge and skills in hardware assembly, test, troubleshooting and repair.
Troubleshoot problems associated with the functionality or design of the products.
Perform ring-out and certification tests of the products used in the work centers.
Deliver work with a keen attention to cost and schedule and a consideration for the re-use and producibility.
Work effectively in a team environment, referring questions and problems to area Lead or Supervisor.
Provide direction to less experienced employees.
Serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
Document and record specialized test set-up configurations, to replicate consistent and repeatable test results.
Apply touch labor skills in association with test facilities and associated equipment and tooling.
Work with mechanical tooling and fixtures to fabricate and construct test set-up configurations.
Apply solid computer skills to access and input data via computer interface or automated equipment.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Perform other duties as necessary.
