About The Position

The High Reliability and RF (HRR) is the power systems division of Microchip Technology Inc. and a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of high performance modules and systems in Power Management. We place great emphasis on validated solutions that work right the first time. We have an immediate opening for a Technician IV-Production Test position at our Garden Grove, California facility.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (AA or AS) in electronics or equivalent field is required.
  • 5-7 years hands-on experience in testing switching power supplies or related power electronic circuits is required.
  • Understand basic electronics principles and components.
  • Must have knowledge of switching mode power supply and analog circuits.
  • Able to read and understand electrical schematics.
  • Able to calculate power dissipation and efficiency.
  • Working experience of using Oscilloscopes, current probe, Digital Multi function Meter (DMM), bench-top power supply, and electronics load.
  • Able to program and operate thermal chamber, to operate shaker for vibration test.
  • Proficient in Excel basic functions and MS Word for writing technical reports.
  • Candidates are required to provide proof of either US citizenship, Permanent US residency or classification as a protected individual as defined in 8 USC 1324b (a) (3).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare test setups for power supply production units as required.
  • Perform switching power supply board level test per Production Test Procedure (PTP).
  • Perform power supply top assembly level tests including vibration, thermal cycling and other tests per ATP, QTP or other test procedures as required.
  • Summarize and analyze test results.
  • Create technical report for technical issues.
  • Perform troubleshooting at board and top assembly levels.
  • Build and troubleshoot test fixtures, cables, test harness and loadbanks when is needed.
  • May test inductor and transformer magnetic assemblies.
  • Build test fixture and perform magnetic assembly Group-A burn-in and Group-B life test when is needed.
