About The Position

This position performs field on-site servicing, repair, troubleshooting and/or installation of streetlighting and ITS devices / components. This job may include any aspect of field support and installation, and is not limited to electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation; conduit and pull box installation or as required. This position will also require the Technician to have a high school diploma or GED, supplemented by vocational/ technical training which includes an electrical apprenticeship; supplemented by previous ITS experience and/or training as a journeyman electrician or electrical inspector; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Currently have and successfully maintain an active, valid driver’s license.
To reside in the location for the assigned area to comply with contract response time requirements. Current contract response time requirements for all call outs including emergency and/or critical repairs are 2 hours.
Must successfully complete required background / drug screening that TransCore initiates as part of the hiring process; additionally, when required by project, must successfully complete a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and State Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) background screen.
Advance Network understanding.
Traffic Signal troubleshooting and replacement of major components.
Ramp Metering and Warning Gates understanding.

Nice To Haves

Strong background in ITS Troubleshooting.
Understanding of MIMS software and inventory system.
Ability to act as a lead in field task and provide updates to management.
Experience in operating bucket Trucks.
MOT Certified.
CDL License.

Responsibilities

Work independently with minimum supervision.
Complete reports, logs and performs shift-to-shift communications in accordance with established policies, procedures and local practice.
Install ITS equipment including but not limited to cameras, detectors, controller cabinets.
Install Street Lighting equipment including but not limited to luminaires, high mast lighting, pendant lighting, navigational lighting, street lighting.
Knowledge of ITS System through the SunGuide System.
Knowledge of lighting systems.
Familiar with fiber optics installation procedures, splicing testing and installation.
Install electrical conductor, data conductor, and fiber optic cable.
Install pull boxes, conduit, and any required underground infrastructure.
Connect conductors to equipment to make equipment work correctly.
Connect electrical conductors to power services to energize equipment.
Test devices to ensure they work correctly.
Prepare logs to keep track of field conditions and installation activities.
Respond to corrective maintenance requests or alarms within an acceptable time frame.
Diagnose and repair hardware, software, and system issues.
Report technical status of system with accuracy and completeness.
Restore equipment to operational status as quickly as possible.
Isolate faults to boar, module, or component level.
Field test of units and/or components.
Familiar with traffic signal systems including device replacement and troubleshooting.
