About The Position

This position is responsible for leading the physical installation and inspections of life safety systems or other technologies on all assigned projects or inspections. The Technician III works alongside a team to ensure safety and quality objectives are met by adhering to industry standards and best practices. The role involves leading daily work project and inspection plans, including safe work practices, assisting in cable pathway construction, cable pulling, device terminations, and system testing. Key responsibilities also include monitoring life safety systems during inspections, documenting test results, communicating findings and discrepancies, and addressing malfunctions immediately. The Technician III reviews online documentation, utilizes checklists, produces quality work, and maintains an organized environment. This role is a key team member for inspection training, collaborates with leadership on process improvements, and assists the Sales team in client relationships. The position requires performing customer walk-throughs, submitting documentation, and providing input for post-project meetings. Additionally, the Technician III supports service ticket completion and provides mandatory support to CEC's 24/7 On Call rotation. Travel of 25% is required.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience within CEC or similar company.
  • 2+ safety related certifications.
  • 1 Industry certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • General construction or mechanical knowledge.
  • General knowledge of communications systems, including audio, video, security, fire alarm, health care, and data networks.
  • Ability to climb ladders up to 12 feet high or be in a lift to extended heights.
  • Ability to effectively speak and understand English language communications.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers.
  • Ability to lift objects up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to perform reaching, grasping, and carrying activities.
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Compliance with the company's Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, including participation in random drug and/or alcohol screening.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-year technical degree.
  • PC proficiency (Windows environment) and working knowledge of Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Verify understanding of the project plan and review all project milestones.
  • Follow all safety requirements and project plan or Inspection task responsibilities.
  • Lead daily work project & Inspection plan including safe work practices and requirements.
  • Assist in cable pathway construction, cable pulling, device terminations, and system testing.
  • Ask questions when needed and look for next steps in project plan, always keeps busy and productive.
  • Monitor life safety systems during system inspections, and ensure connected devices are tested correctly.
  • Document test results of inspections.
  • Communicate Testing results and discrepancies to team, addressing any malfunctions immediately.
  • Review online documentation, utilizing checklists to ensure each device scheduled for testing gets tested.
  • Produce quality and efficient work.
  • Maintain a clean and organized working environment.
  • Arrive to the job site on time and is self-driven to accomplish needed tasks.
  • Work as supportive team member, listening and gathering technical skill sets.
  • Key team member for inspection training.
  • Work with leadership on process and continued improvements.
  • Assist Sales team to help solidify client relationships.
  • Perform customer walk-throughs if needed, submit documentation on all assigned projects.
  • Provide input to Project Manager or Field Supervisor on processes, procedures, tools, and best practices for improvement.
  • Give recommendations to Sales and Engineering on improvement areas and project or Inspection successes.
  • Support Service ticket completion as assigned.
  • Provide Mandatory support to CEC's 24/7 On Call rotation.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.
