About The Position

The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Research Technician II to support cutting-edge biomedical research within the Department of Biomedical and Translational Sciences. This position provides laboratory support through tissue culture, molecular biology, protein purification, and laboratory operations that enable high-quality, reproducible research. Requirements

  • High school diploma with at least two years of relevant laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in a biological, molecular biology, biochemistry, or cell culture laboratory.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail with the ability to accurately maintain laboratory records and follow established protocols.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research team while fostering a respectful work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining mammalian and insect tissue culture lines, preparing culture media, reagents, and laboratory solutions to support research activities.
  • Assisting with molecular biology and protein expression techniques, including molecular cloning, recombinant protein production, and protein purification.
  • Supporting laboratory operations by maintaining equipment, organizing supplies, receiving shipments, sterilizing laboratory materials, and ensuring a safe, clean research environment.
  • Maintaining accurate laboratory records, documenting experimental procedures, and contributing to reproducible, high-quality scientific research.
