The primary function of this position is to perform moderate mechanical repairs and assembly on construction equipment by troubleshooting and using various diagnostic equipment. This role involves checking equipment and supplies, complying with PPE requirements, and preparing for duties. The technician will use manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, and parts diagrams to perform independent troubleshooting and repair of construction equipment. They will also utilize lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other aids to move parts, and use hand and power tools for removal, installation, rebuilding, repair, and testing of components. Additionally, the technician will use miscellaneous resources and computers for parts referencing and data entry, and employ tools for disassembly/reassembly and cleaning of parts. Diagnostic checks will be performed using test equipment, and powered equipment or tools will be controlled to make repairs. Accessing all parts of the vehicle will require climbing onto and underneath it. The technician will use overhead hoists, lift devices, and forklifts to move items for disassembly and repair, and then reassemble them onto the vehicle. Responsibilities include performing inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairing engines, power trains, hydraulic, and electrical components. Power washers and spray paint equipment will be used for cleaning and painting, and instruments and computers will be used to reprogram equipment controllers.
