About The Position

Saber Power Services, a portfolio company of Greenbelt Capital Partners, is a fully integrated electrical power system services firm providing end-to-end solutions across utility, renewables and battery storage, industrial, petrochemical, and other markets. Based in Houston, Texas, Saber Power offers deep subject matter expertise and uses an engineering-led approach to designing, installing, testing, and maintaining medium and high-voltage electrical infrastructure. Saber serves clients locally, nationally, and abroad. Saber Power Services seeks a professional, dedicated individual with a positive outlook for our Technician II to perform electrical testing, maintenance, and start-ups of high voltage substations in Mobile, AL.

Requirements

  • Power DB knowledge a plus
  • Word processing, spread sheet and e-mail software
  • Mathematics, including algebra and trigonometry
  • Broad knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals (Electrical)
  • Broad knowledge of the major components of a substation
  • Broad knowledge of control and protection systems (Electrical)
  • Knowledge of high-voltage electric field theory (Electrical)
  • Broad knowledge of electrical code and standards (NEC, NESC, and applicable IEEE and ANSI) (Electrical)
  • Broad knowledge of civil / structural codes and standards (NESC, and applicable IEEE, ANSI, AISC and ACI) (Civil / Structural)
  • Broad knowledge of the function of major electrical equipment
  • Broad knowledge of ground grid theory and design (Electrical)
  • Effective oral and written communications
  • Knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substation
  • Knowledge of drafting standards
  • Working in a team environment
  • Communicating effectively with co-workers
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical testing services on power apparatus, substations, and switchgear included (but not limited to) the following: Protective relaying and relaying systems, Circuit Breakers, Power Transformers, Current and Potential Transformers, Meters, Transducers, and Power system metering, Power Cables, Grounding Systems, Motors and Motor Starters, Station Batteries and Chargers, Alarm systems and Annunciators, Personal Protective Equipment
  • Perform troubleshooting and problem identification and analysis. Make recommendations regarding corrective action and/or repairs
  • Generate technical reports detailing services provided, problems found, and corrective action taken or recommended
  • Represent the company in a professional manner regarding communicating and interfacing with clients
  • Communicate effectively with the company management team on a regular basis regarding project status and the scheduling of manpower and equipment
  • Always make safety a top priority, realizing that the company has Zero Tolerance for those who do otherwise
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.
