The primary function of this position is to perform moderate mechanical repairs and assembly on construction equipment by trouble-shooting and using various diagnostic equipment. This role involves checking equipment and supplies, complying with PPE requirements, and preparing for duties. The technician will use manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, and parts diagrams to perform independent troubleshooting and repair of construction equipment. They will utilize lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other aids to move parts for repair. The role requires the use of hand and power tools for removing, installing, rebuilding, repairing, and testing parts and equipment. Technicians will also use miscellaneous resources and computers for parts referencing, information gathering, and data entry into record systems. This includes disassembling/re-assembling parts, cleaning parts with various methods, using test equipment for diagnostics, and controlling powered equipment. The job requires climbing onto, under, and into vehicles to access all parts. Overhead hoists, lift devices, and forklifts will be used to move items like tracks, idler wheels, and blades for disassembly, repair, and reassembly. Responsibilities include performing inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairing engines, power trains, hydraulic, and electrical components. The technician will also use power washers and spray paint equipment for cleaning and painting vehicles, and instruments and computers to reprogram equipment controllers.
