Requirements

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have valid OK drivers license
  • Must have a CDL or the ability to obtain one within one year of assignment.
  • Certified Switchman and Certified Clearance Holder or ability to obtain both within one year of assignment.
  • Basic knowledge of lock out tag out procedures.
  • Experience with erecting steel support structures for high voltage electrical apparatus
  • Organizational and Communicative skills
  • Knowledge of Safety rules and procedures associated with high voltage electrical facilities.
  • Computer skills – able to use Microsoft programs, including “WORD” and “EXCEL”.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer basic knowledge of power factor, transformer turns ratio, winding resistance, SFRA, excitation, DC high potential and dissolved gas analysis testing within substations.
  • Prefer to have basic knowledge of mobile substation installation.

Responsibilities

  • Install high voltage transformers, various types of circuit breakers, switches, PTs, CTs, voltage regulators, and other equipment found in electrical substations.
  • Operate heavy trucks, cranes, forklifts and other equipment used in the construction, repair replacement and maintenance of high voltage substation equipment.
  • Test equipment found in substations to find potential problems eliminating costly failures and disruption of service to our customers.
  • Repair equipment found to be faulty in accordance with manufacture recommendations.
  • Replace equipment when found to be cost effective and enhance reliability.
  • Follow Federal, State and Local laws concerning EPA and other regulations including but not limited to PCBs in oil, SF6 gas emissions and oil containment.
  • Coordinate with other crafts on logistics and assigned projects.
  • Secure equipment and materials needed to complete a project and check it out through the warehouse using the correct project codes and work order numbers.
  • Help ensure all projects are performed in the safest manner in accordance with GRDA, APPA and other governing rules and regulations.
  • Work with various divisions and departments in maintaining all aspects of GRDA system.
  • Professional accountability is required.
