As a Technician II, Maintenance, you will be a key player in ensuring the continuous, safe, and compliant operation of GMP and non-GMP process and support equipment within our Norwood facility. You’ll serve as the first responder to equipment issues—leveraging hands-on technical expertise to resolve issues directly or by coordinating with external service providers. This role blends equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, reliability engineering, and documentation in a highly regulated manufacturing environment. You’ll lead routine and emergent maintenance activities, support small-scale projects, and take ownership of your equipment systems while working cross-functionally to drive equipment uptime, performance, and compliance. As Moderna continues to grow and digitize, this role also offers exposure to cutting-edge tools, systems, and emerging applications in automation and Generative AI technologies to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • AS degree or certificate in a science/technical field or a technical trade school
  • 2-5 years’ of experience
  • Candidates must already hold work authorization in US and be able to maintain that status without the need for future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on GMP/non-GMP equipment and systems, following established procedures and schedules.
  • Lead development of remediation plans for follow-up and emergency work.
  • Perform equipment troubleshooting and implement repairs, coordinating with engineers and vendors.
  • Maintain all cGMP documentation, both in paper and electronic format, in full compliance.
  • Serve as the first responder for equipment issues and manage appropriate resolution strategies.
  • Operate and maintain manufacturing equipment such as autoclaves, washers, filling equipment, and filter integrity testers.
  • Perform changeovers and setup of filling equipment to support production readiness.
  • Support the 24/7 operational readiness of the site, including rotational on-call support.
  • Develop and maintain OJT (On-the-Job Training) records and maintain status as a Qualified Trainer.
  • Ensure spare parts, tools, and equipment are available for all assigned tasks.
  • Manage and oversee contract service providers, ensuring SOP compliance and proper documentation.
  • Administer hazardous energy control procedures and confined space entries per safety protocols.
  • Contribute to small maintenance projects and site reliability initiatives.
  • Apply basic asset management principles and routine reliability concepts in daily work.
