Position Overview The Technician I responsibilities include, but will not be limited to operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment required for the safe operation of hydroelectric power plants. This role will assist other technicians with the proper operation and maintenance of a hydroelectric generation facility. All work will be performed under close supervision. Essential job functions include, but are not limited to: Observe, record, and evaluate system conditions, maintain, and review operational and maintenance reporting logs and keep management fully informed of unusual conditions. Understanding of predictive & preventive maintenance processes. Installs, adjusts, inspects, services, and repairs a variety of mechanical, electrical, and controls equipment and parts of electrical machinery utilized in a hydroelectric facility. Overhauls and adjusts hydroelectric units, pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, and auxiliary equipment. Troubleshoots and maintains plant control systems. Maintains and inspects grounds and facilities to FERC standards, to include vegetation and debris management. Maintains, tests and troubleshoots facility emergency systems. Tests and calibrates to established standards, equipment such as pressure and temperature transmitters, valve positioners, pneumatic controllers, electronic controllers, pressure and temperature switches and other process control equipment Monitors operations by observing plant equipment, indicating instruments, annunciators, computers, and communications equipment Basic knowledge of P&ID’s, schematics and ladder logic and use facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals to maintain and repair facility equipment. Fully support the use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) by displaying a proficiency in using the system and dedication to the facility maintenance philosophy. Read, understand, and comply with all regulatory procedures and facility safety. Take on specific tasks/responsibilities assigned in these areas. Work shift hours, overtime, or irregular hours as needed to support reliable operation and emergency operation of the facilities. Be available for emergency callouts as needed. Fully support and actively participate in GRDA Safety and Regulatory Compliance Programs. Organizes, and maintains records. Other duties as assigned.
