Performs various tasks involving grounds or roadside maintenance projects. This includes mowing grass, edging curbs, roadways, landscaped areas, driveways, and sidewalks. The role also involves tree care such as cutting down trees and pruning limbs, hedges, and shrubs. Responsibilities extend to clearing grounds and rights-of-way of debris, mulching leaves, raking, blowing leaves, and picking up litter. In support of public works operations, the technician collects and hauls materials, empties trash cans, cleans bathrooms, performs routine repairs and maintenance (e.g., changing light bulbs, repairing signs, painting), installs/removes holiday decorations, assists with special events, and participates in weather-related clean-up activities. Safety is paramount, requiring the use of safety equipment, monitoring the work environment for hazards, flagging and directing traffic, and reporting incidents. The role involves operating various machinery and equipment, performing general cleaning and maintenance on tools and equipment, and communicating with supervisors, co-workers, and the public.
