About The Position

The primary function of this position is to perform routine mechanical repairs on construction equipment. This involves using manuals, repair manuals, and parts diagrams to troubleshoot equipment. The technician will use various tools and equipment, including lift trucks and overhead cranes, to disassemble, repair, and reassemble parts and equipment. Responsibilities include performing inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairing engines, power trains, hydraulic, and electrical components. The role also involves using instruments and computers to reprogram equipment controllers and cleaning/painting vehicles.

Requirements

  • High school education or GED.
  • Up to two years of schooling or direct work experience.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Good basic mechanical knowledge obtained through schooling or work experience.
  • Ability to repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend, and climb onto and underneath various equipment.
  • Ability to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports.
  • Ability to routinely and physically lift or position various parts manually up to 112 pounds.
  • Ability to use mechanical hoist for heavier parts.
  • Ability to effectively write repair activities on customer work orders.
  • Cognitive reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Exposure to P.C. base equipment and parts information.
  • Capable of learning and understanding technical information, service manuals, and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine mechanical repairs on construction equipment.
  • Troubleshoot construction equipment using manuals, repair manuals, and parts diagrams.
  • Use hand and power tools to remove, install, rebuild, repair, and test parts/equipment.
  • Disassemble and reassemble parts or equipment.
  • Clean parts using rags, cleaners, and power washers.
  • Use test equipment to make diagnostic checks.
  • Climb onto, under, and into vehicles to gain access to all parts.
  • Use overhead hoists, lift devices, forklifts, and other aids to move parts.
  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Repair engines, power trains, hydraulic, and electrical components.
  • Use instruments and computers to reprogram equipment controllers.
  • Clean and paint vehicles using power washers and spray paint equipment.
  • Write repair activities on customer work orders.
  • Apply knowledge, written information, and verbal instructions to repair technical equipment operational problems.
