About The Position

Texas A&M Biology Department is seeking a Technician I who, under general supervision, supports Biology A&P laboratory courses through daily laboratory preparation and technical operations. This position assists with lab setup and coordination, supports personnel involved in laboratory preparation activities, and ensures quality assurance and quality control standards for laboratory equipment, specimens, and experiments are consistently maintained.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Ability to lift and move moderate weight objects.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in research laboratory environment.
  • Completion of advanced A&P laboratory coursework.
  • Specimen dissection skills.

Responsibilities

  • Independently troubleshoots laboratory experimental issues and recommends effective solutions.
  • Plans, prepares, refines, and supervises laboratory experiments, technical procedures, and daily operations for Biology A&P laboratory courses.
  • Constructs, modifies, assembles, and operates laboratory apparatus and experiments for student instruction and practical exams.
  • Maintains laboratory safety standards and performs quality assurance and quality control for laboratory equipment, specimens, reagents, solutions, and media.
  • Performs routine cleaning, maintenance, management, and repair of laboratory equipment and laboratory spaces.
  • Maintains and transports laboratory supplies, standard items, and departmental equipment as needed.
  • Coordinates laboratory schedules and supports instructional activities for laboratory courses.
  • Trains and assists Graduate Assistants assigned to laboratory courses.
