About The Position

The primary function of this position is to perform routine mechanical repairs on materials handling equipment. This role involves using various tools and resources to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain engines, fuel systems, transmissions, and other components of material handling equipment. The technician will also be responsible for preventative maintenance, inspections, and completing necessary paperwork.

Requirements

  • High school education or GED.
  • Two years of direct work experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend, and climb beside, onto, and underneath various equipment.
  • Ability to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports.
  • Ability to routinely and physically lift/position various parts up to 95 pounds and use mechanical hoists for heavier parts.
  • Ability to effectively write repair activities on customer work orders.
  • Cognitive reasoning and problem-solving skills to apply knowledge, written information, and verbal instructions.
  • Exposure to P.C. base equipment and parts information.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine mechanical repairs on materials handling equipment.
  • Review work schedules and prepare for duties, ensuring compliance with PPE requirements.
  • Troubleshoot engines, engine fuel systems, transmissions, and other components using manuals and diagrams.
  • Use lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other aids to move parts for repair.
  • Remove, install, replace, rebuild, repair, and test parts and equipment using hand and power tools.
  • Reference parts information and enter data into record systems using computers.
  • Disassemble and reassemble parts or equipment, drain fluids, and clean parts.
  • Climb onto, under, and into vehicles to perform disassembly and reassembly of various components.
  • Replace various parts such as pumps, batteries, radiators, bearings, seals, wiring, solenoids, and fuel lines.
  • Test float valves, glow plugs, and alternators.
  • Use overhead hoists to move parts.
  • Test and recalibrate equipment using meters, measuring devices, and computers.
  • Complete warranty paperwork.
  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and coolant/belt/hose replacements.
  • Drain, clean, and refill fuel systems as needed.
