About The Position

Microchip Technology Colorado Springs Equipment Engineering Services Department has an opening for an equipment technician in the Central Cleans area. Duties will include providing technical support and services to all areas of the fab by cleaning, assembling, staging, and tracking preventive maintenance parts and supplies. This role involves disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling various subassemblies and kits as part of routine maintenance activity in the central clean area. The technician will learn and adhere to safety protocols, including donning proper PPE such as cartridge respirators, acid gloves, acid aprons, safety glasses, and hearing protection. They will perform preventive maintenance on Central Clean equipment per specified procedures, provide input for procedure development and optimization, and actively work towards area improvements and cost reduction. Collaboration with Equipment engineers and technicians is expected to identify areas for improvement and generate projects for quicker turnaround times and improved tool uptime. The role requires the capability to start, stop, and operate equipment such as hoods, ovens, and bead blasters. Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and the ability to learn operational concepts of systems are necessary to perform diagnostics and solve complex problems. The technician will apply diagnostic techniques to identify and correct common failures and assist senior technicians or engineers with part failures based on process or historical equipment data. Good communication between shifts, as well as with production and maintenance, is essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Communicate effectively will all levels of the organization.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.
  • Able to don proper PPE while performing everyday tasks in the area.

  • Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and ability to learn the operational concepts of systems and how to perform diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques to solve more complex operational and system problems.
