About The Position
The Commissioning Technician I works closely with the Service Manager and field technicians to support the successful commissioning of utility-scale solar projects. This is an entry-level field role designed to build a strong technical foundation — you will learn Ampacity's installation standards, quality processes, and documentation practices while contributing meaningful work on real projects from day one.
Requirements
- 0-2 years of experience in electrical, mechanical, solar, or a related trade field
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, or technical drawings
- Sharp attention to detail and commitment to accurate, thorough documentation
- Solutions-driven mindset with the ability to think critically in the field
- Strong communication skills and a customer service orientation
- Valid driver's license with a clean MVR and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time
Responsibilities
- Compare physical installations against blueprint specifications to verify project completion aligns with Ampacity's standard installation practices
- Perform routine quality checks throughout the commissioning process and flag inconsistencies for review
- Assist with in-field retrofits and modifications as directed by field technicians or the Service Manager
- Maintain accurate records for all work performed and process submittments in line with Ampacity SOPs
- Support troubleshooting of faulting trackers, both remotely and on-site, under the guidance of senior team members
- Carry out routine or scheduled service repairs as needed
- Report installation discrepancies and contribute feedback to improve future installation practices.
