About The Position

Walmart is hiring a Supermarket Rack Refrigeration HVAC Technician to support and oversee repairs to refrigeration and HVAC equipment and assets at local retail facilities. The role uses commercial HVAC and refrigeration skills, along with hand tools, digital tools, power tools, and other equipment, to maintain facilities and support stores and associates. The technician receives and documents work orders, responds to emergency maintenance calls, diagnoses equipment issues, and performs work in accordance with Walmart safety and environmental procedures and applicable OSHA and EPA regulations. The position requires safe operation of equipment and tools, completion of required training, and frequent ladder use and work at heights. The role is based at the Walmart facility at 7555 Telegraph Road, Taylor, Michigan. A work vehicle and tools are provided.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in commercial refrigeration/HVAC maintenance, as stated in the posting summary.
Experience with large-scale rack refrigeration.
Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
Valid state-issued driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record report; commercial driving record must meet the stated requirements for convictions, moving violations, preventable accidents, and serious traffic violations.
Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent, as stated in the posting summary.
Meet one of the listed minimum qualification paths: vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years of experience in mechanical maintenance or a construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls; or 4 years of experience in mechanical maintenance or a construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or a related field.
Where required, hold an HVAC-R/mechanical journeyman qualification.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, use ladders, and work comfortably at heights frequently.

Nice To Haves

Completion of a 2-year vocational or technical HVAC/R program.
Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Mechanical license in the city and/or state where the job is located.
Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair facility refrigeration and HVAC equipment and assets using commercial HVAC and refrigeration skills and appropriate tools and equipment.
Use the work order management system to receive repair work orders supporting stores and associates, and document repair activities.
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls.
Inspect, operate, or test facilities, equipment, and fixtures to diagnose issues.
Complete required training to operate equipment and tools safely.
Perform work in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations and Walmart refrigeration HVAC safety and environmental guidelines.
