About The Position

The Technician, Facility Services General Maintenance, is responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance to ensure the safety, functionality, and appearance of facilities and equipment. This role involves inspecting, repairing, and documenting maintenance activities while managing work orders and coordinating with contractors. The position requires adherence to safety regulations and company standards, operation of heavy machinery, and effective communication with team members to support continuous improvement. The technician contributes to maintaining a safe and efficient environment by identifying repair needs, managing resources, and supporting the company’s mission and values through ethical and compliant practices. The Facility Services General Maintenance team ensures Walmart and Sam’s Club locations operate safely and efficiently through routine repairs and preventive maintenance. This team manages a broad range of building and equipment upkeep, including doors, flooring, forklifts, and shopping carts. Members collaborate to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and maintain compliance with safety and quality standards. They support one another by sharing expertise and providing hands-on training. The team plays a crucial role in sustaining facility functionality and delivering reliable service to support business operations across multiple sites.

Requirements

  • Proven experience performing preventive maintenance and repairs on facilities, equipment, and fixtures following established schedules and guidelines.
  • Ability to operate, inspect, and maneuver heavy machinery and powered equipment safely and in compliance with certification and safety procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations to ensure quality work and regulatory compliance.
  • Skilled in managing work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractor coordination with accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Competence in identifying repair and replacement needs, recommending solutions to prevent future issues.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to support operational priorities and continuous improvement.
  • Vocational or technical certification and 2 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • Option 2: 4 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
  • Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
  • Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical trade program
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • License in related trade in city and/or state where job is located
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate parts ordering, track expenses, and submit warranty claims and maintenance invoices.
  • Identify hazards or equipment malfunctions and take corrective actions or escalate as needed.
  • Collaborate with teams to improve processes and support business priorities.
