About The Position

The Technician, Facility Services, Exterior Services, is responsible for managing and executing exterior maintenance projects to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant facility operations. This role involves coordinating work assignments, overseeing material procurement, and maintaining equipment while adhering to safety and environmental regulations. The technician provides technical support, leads third-party providers, and implements improvements to optimize costs and sustainability. By collaborating with internal teams and external partners, this position ensures high-quality service delivery that supports operational excellence and aligns with company standards and policies. The General Facilities Maintenance team ensures Walmart’s facilities operate efficiently and safely through preventive maintenance, equipment repair, and thorough inspections. Collaborating with internal and external partners, the team coordinates resources and budgets to deliver timely, high-quality service. Emphasizing clear communication, accountability, and continuous improvement, they support operational goals by addressing facility needs and maintaining equipment functionality. Requirements

  • Proven experience in facility maintenance and exterior services, including seasonal landscaping and snow removal operations.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Ability to manage budgets, approve purchases, and coordinate material requisitions effectively.
  • Skilled in operating and maintaining heavy machinery and powered equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead third-party providers and conduct quality assurance inspections.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on customer service and issue resolution.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize work assignments and manage multiple projects.
  • Commitment to upholding company policies, ethics, and standards of integrity.
  • 2 years' experience in the landscaping/gardening industry.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or related area.
  • Experience in third-party management.
  • Experience using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • State/local licensing where required (for example, Florida, Texas, California).

Responsibilities

  • Manage and prioritize exterior facility projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
  • Prepare and execute budgets, including cost estimates and purchase approvals for parts, materials, and equipment.
  • Perform seasonal exterior maintenance, including snow and ice management, landscaping, and equipment servicing.
  • Operate and inspect heavy machinery and vehicles, ensuring safety compliance and proper maintenance.
  • Lead third-party providers through coaching and performance evaluations to maintain service quality.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Troubleshoot facility issues and provide technical assistance to support operational efficiency.
