About The Position

The Technician, Facility Services, Exterior Services, is responsible for managing and executing exterior maintenance and repair projects to ensure safe, functional, and compliant facility environments. This role involves coordinating resources, overseeing third-party providers, and maintaining equipment and vehicles while adhering to safety and environmental regulations. The position requires effective communication with facility users, prioritizing work assignments, and implementing cost-effective improvements. The Technician supports operational excellence by maintaining quality standards, promoting ethical practices, and contributing to sustainable facility upgrades that enhance overall service and safety. The Exterior Service team supports Walmart stores across the Market by maintaining landscaping, performing minor parking lot repairs, and assisting other markets and technicians. This team ensures facilities remain safe, functional, and visually appealing through seasonal maintenance and timely repairs. Members coordinate with Home Office to standardize equipment and optimize resources. They operate specialized machinery and vehicles while adhering to safety and quality standards. The team plays a key role in sustaining store environments, contributing to operational efficiency and customer satisfaction through dedicated service and technical expertise.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to manage departmental operations, including budgeting, purchasing, and project prioritization.
  • Experience in sourcing, verifying, and approving materials, equipment, and supplies to meet operational needs.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Skilled in operating and maintaining heavy machinery, powered equipment, and vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to lead third-party providers, conduct performance evaluations, and maintain quality assurance inspections.
  • Effective problem-solving and customer service skills to assess and resolve facility-related issues.
  • Commitment to upholding company policies, ethics, and integrity while driving continuous improvement.
  • Valid, state-issued driver’s license.
  • No convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI, or reckless driving involving alcohol or drugs within the last three (3) years.
  • No more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years, if driving a commercial motor vehicle.
  • No serious traffic violations (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle.
  • No preventable accidents (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Able to successfully complete a DOT physical and secure medical certification at a minimum of a 90 day card.
  • As required by section 391.11(b)(2) of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, ability to read and speak in the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or related area.
  • Experience in third-party management.
  • Experience using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • State/local licensing where required (for example, Florida, Texas, California).

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain exterior facility equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Manage and prioritize work assignments, including seasonal maintenance and snow and ice control activities.
  • Prepare and execute budgets by developing cost estimates and approving purchases of materials and equipment.
  • Lead third-party providers through coaching and performance evaluations to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections and troubleshoot facility issues to maintain safe, functional environments.
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance and operate motor vehicles in accordance with company policies and safety standards.
  • Implement facility upgrades to improve sustainability and reduce operating costs.
