About The Position

The Technician, Facility Services, Exterior Services, is responsible for managing and executing exterior maintenance projects to ensure safe, functional, and compliant facility environments. This role involves coordinating resources, overseeing scheduled work, and maintaining equipment while adhering to safety and environmental regulations. The position requires effective communication with facility users and leadership, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements to optimize operations and reduce costs. The Technician supports company standards by modeling integrity, collaborating with teams, and driving continuous enhancements to maintain high-quality exterior services aligned with organizational goals. The Exterior Services team is dedicated to maintaining Walmart’s outdoor spaces, ensuring lawns and properties are well-kept and visually appealing for customers and associates. This team handles daily landscaping, seasonal maintenance, and property upkeep with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency. They coordinate projects, manage equipment, and implement improvements to support sustainable and cost-effective facility operations. Team members collaborate closely to meet standards, address facility needs, and enhance the overall environment, contributing to a positive experience for all who visit or work at Walmart locations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing facility services with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to prepare and execute budgets, including cost estimation and purchase approvals.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Skilled in operating and maintaining powered equipment and vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Strong troubleshooting and customer service abilities to resolve facility-related issues.
  • Experience leading third-party providers and conducting quality assurance inspections.
  • Commitment to upholding company policies, ethics, and integrity in all work activities.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work assignments while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Valid, state-issued driver’s license.
  • No convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI, or reckless driving involving alcohol or drugs within the last three (3) years.
  • No more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years, if driving a commercial motor vehicle.
  • No serious traffic violations (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle.
  • No preventable accidents (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Able to successfully complete a DOT physical and secure medical certification at a minimum of a 90 day card.
  • As required by section 391.11(b)(2) of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, ability to read and speak in the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or related area.
  • Experience in third-party management.
  • Experience using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient in speaking and understanding Spanish.
  • State/local licensing where required (for example, Florida, Texas, California, etc).

Responsibilities

  • Manage and prioritize exterior facility service projects, ensuring timely completion and quality standards.
  • Prepare and execute budgets, including cost estimates and approval of purchases for parts, materials, and equipment.
  • Perform seasonal exterior maintenance, including snow and ice management, landscaping, and equipment servicing.
  • Operate and inspect heavy machinery and vehicles, ensuring safety compliance and proper maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot facility issues and provide technical assistance to support customer service and operational needs.
  • Coordinate with third-party providers, conduct performance evaluations, and maintain compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Implement facility upgrades to enhance sustainability and reduce operating costs.
