Responsible for the operation of a department. Performs additional job-related responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or necessary. Demonstrates, promotes, and supports compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity. Uses the Open Door Policy. Assists management with correcting ethical and compliance issues and problems. Complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and guidelines by performing work according to practices and procedures outlined in the Walmart Exterior Service guidance, safety policy, and environmental guidelines. Controls company costs by conducting price comparisons of parts, equipment, and travel-related costs. Submits warranty claims. Completes and submits forms (for example, expense vouchers, weekly summaries, work orders) to Regional Managers and Home Office associates. Leads third-party providers by fostering a climate for professional growth and development. Coaches and conducts performance evaluations. Develops and directs quality assurance inspections. Troubleshoots and provides customer service by communicating with facility users to ensure meeting of event needs. Assesses and resolves customer problems and complaints. Ensures a clean, safe, and healthy work environment for associates. Evaluates current and future replacement needs (for example, mulch, rock, trees, shrubs, sod replacement). Implements upgrades to convert the facility into a sustainable unit. Explores potential improvements to lower operating costs. Coordinates with Home Office support to standardize equipment and reduce on-hand stock. Sources tool and equipment purchases to perform repairs. Ensures completed work meets quality and safety requirements. Uses heavy machinery. Prepares and executes budgets by developing cost estimates on requested and planned projects. Approves purchases of parts, materials, equipment, and supplies. Provides technical assistance and consultation to facilitate purchases. Verifies purchase receipt and acceptance. Gathers capital expenditures lists and develops scopes of work to update existing assets in assigned facilities, including landscaping, snow events (pre-salt or pushing snow), case cleaning on a seasonal schedule, shopping cart PM and service on a seasonal schedule. Identifies other issues related to regular service. Performs seasonal exterior maintenance activities, including snow and ice management, by operating snow removal equipment, applying de?icing materials, clearing walkways, drives, and exterior areas, and supporting winter preparedness and response activities to maintain safe facility conditions. Maintains vehicles in working mechanical (basic maintenance) and cleanliness condition. Coordinates and takes vehicles for required maintenance, ensuring beforehand that alternate driving support is arranged. Safely operates motor vehicles and ensures vehicles have all the required documents. Checks fuel and water levels, brake condition, signals, and lights. Submits maintenance invoices for payment. Verifies the coverage and validity of vehicle insurance. Wears company uniform and badge according to company policies and procedures. Operates, inspects, and maneuvers heavy machinery and powered equipment (for example, forklifts, material handling equipment, industrial machines, shop equipment, vehicles) in accordance with training, certification requirements, and safety procedures. Performs pre-operation safety checks and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is safe, functional, and compliant with applicable standards. Identifies unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or potential hazards and takes appropriate corrective action or escalates as required. When not in use, ensure vehicles are properly locked, keys are stored per protocol, and vehicles are available for inspection or reassignment as needed. Parks all assigned work vehicles at the designated Walmart parking location(s) as outlined by Walmart policies. Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; using the Open Door Policy; and applying these in executing business processes and practices. Completes work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources; collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners; identifying priorities, deadlines, and expectations; carrying out tasks; communicating progress and information; determining and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities; and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback. Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license
  • No convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI, or reckless driving involving alcohol or drugs within the last three (3) years
  • No more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years, if driving a commercial motor vehicle
  • No serious traffic violations (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle
  • No preventable accidents (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle
  • Successful completion of a DOT physical and medical certification pre-hire
  • Ability to read and speak in the English language
  • 2 years’ experience in the landscaping/gardening industry
