About The Position

The (USA) Technician, Facility Services, Exterior Services-DOT, is responsible for maintaining safe, clean, and efficient exterior facility operations. This role ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations while managing equipment, performing seasonal maintenance, and coordinating repairs. The technician supports cost control through effective sourcing and budget management, leads third-party providers, and delivers quality service to meet facility and customer needs. Emphasizing integrity and collaboration, this position contributes to continuous improvement and operational excellence within Walmart’s facility services. The team manages exterior maintenance operations across multiple locations, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental standards. They coordinate assignments, optimize resources, and implement improvements aligned with business goals. Providing technical expertise and training, the team maintains equipment quality and operational efficiency. Collaborating with stakeholders, they drive continuous enhancements and adapt to evolving challenges. Requirements

  • Proven experience operating and maintaining heavy machinery and powered equipment in compliance with safety standards.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations relevant to exterior facility services.
  • Ability to manage budgets, approve purchases, and conduct cost comparisons for parts and equipment.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting, quality assurance inspections, and resolving customer concerns effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership in coaching, performance evaluations, and managing third-party service providers.
  • Competence in seasonal exterior maintenance, including snow and ice management operations.
  • Commitment to upholding company policies, ethics, and safety protocols consistently.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license.
  • No convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI, or reckless driving involving alcohol or drugs within the last three (3) years.
  • No more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years, if driving a commercial motor vehicle.
  • No serious traffic violations (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle.
  • No preventable accidents (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Successful completion of a DOT physical and medical certification pre-hire.
  • As required by section 391.11(b)(2) of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, ability to read and speak in the English language.
  • 2 years’ experience in the landscaping/gardening industry

Nice To Haves

  • Able to successfully complete a DOT physical and secure medical certification during pre-hire contingency and be able to maintain a minimum of a 90 day Medical Examiner’s Certification (MEC) card
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or related area.
  • Experience in third-party management.
  • Experience using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient in speaking and understanding Spanish.
  • State/local licensing where required (for example, Florida, Texas, California, etc).

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain heavy machinery and powered equipment following safety and certification standards.
  • Perform seasonal exterior maintenance including snow and ice management to ensure safe facility conditions.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections and troubleshoot facility issues to meet operational standards.
  • Manage vehicle maintenance, safety checks, and compliance with documentation requirements.
  • Coordinate purchases, control costs, and submit warranty claims for parts and equipment.
  • Lead third-party providers and support associate development through coaching and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company policies to maintain a safe and ethical work environment.
