About The Position

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must have current and ongoing authorization to work in the United States. Job Summary Test Driver, responsible for safely operating prototype and production vehicles to evaluate the performance, reliability, and functionality of advanced vehicle technologies. These include adaptive cruise control, lane centering, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, parking assist, and autonomous driving features. Testing is performed on proving grounds, public roads, and controlled test environments while following strict safety procedures and engineering test plans.

Requirements

  • Excellent driving skills with the ability to consistently perform precise driving maneuvers.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, accident avoidance, and defensive driving techniques.
  • Ability to interpret engineering test procedures and provide detailed technical feedback.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to obtain specialized test driver certifications as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience testing ADAS, autonomous vehicle systems, or automotive prototypes preferred.
  • Experience with OEM vehicle development programs.
  • Familiarity with FMVSS a plus.
  • Familiarity with CAN data logging, GPS equipment, and vehicle diagnostic tools.
  • Knowledge of vehicle dynamics, oversteer/understeer, braking performance, and tire behavior.
  • Experience driving manual and automatic transmissions, towing, and operating vehicles in low-traction environments.
  • Amateur Motorsports a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct objective evaluations of ADAS and autonomous driving systems in a variety of weather, road, and traffic conditions.
  • Execute test procedures accurately while collecting data for engineering analysis.
  • Identify, document, and communicate system issues, unexpected behaviors, and software anomalies.
  • Work closely with engineers, technicians, and calibration teams to troubleshoot and validate system performance.
  • Operate data acquisition equipment, GPS systems, and vehicle instrumentation.
  • Perform pre- and post-test vehicle inspections and ensure vehicles are safe for operation.
  • Maintain detailed test logs and prepare clear, concise reports.
  • Follow all safety protocols and confidentiality requirements when handling prototype vehicles.
